What a time to be alive:  Moving pictures! Now you can get your Instagram on in 15 seconds of pure, unadulterated, filtered film.  (More info in this article, a ‘Hands on’ from Techcrunch).

Updating your Instagram to version 4 allows you to take the videos. How does it work?  By pressing a big new button and holding it down for a maximum of 15 seconds. You can then apply a large range of different filters to the video, allowing you to transport yourself back in time to the saturated lenses of the 90’s and 80’s, or even the glamorous black and white film of the 40’s.

There’s already a great article up on Gigaom Why I will never click on your Instagram video, no matter how much you want me to.

You can check out some of the (mostly big) brands already using video on Instagram on this helpful AdAge post.

Hipsters, rejoice.

Facebook’s latest manoeuvre more than slightly one-ups Twitter’s equivalent service: Vine, which offers six second videos with no shiny filters. It will be interesting to see how Vine bounces back from this.

Lets be honest. It will probably by replicating the service.

Happy Trails,
